The horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla crossed a major milestone at the global box office. First, it sustained strong momentum in its second week. Then, steady domestic and overseas collections pushed it past the ₹200 crore mark on day 13. As a result, the film now ranks among the top earners of the year.

Audiences back familiar comedy-horror mix

On the ground, cinema halls continued to draw family audiences and youth groups. Viewers responded well to the mix of humour and suspense. In cities like Mumbai and Delhi, evening shows saw steady footfall even on weekdays. Theatre owners said word-of-mouth helped the film hold screens despite new releases approaching.

At the same time, ticket sales showed early signs of slowing. Many viewers who planned to watch the film already did so in the first two weeks. Now, exhibitors expect weekend spikes but remain cautious about weekday trends.

Box Office Run: Strong start, gradual slowdown

The film opened with paid previews before its official release on April 17. It quickly built momentum over the first weekend. Collections touched ₹58 crore net in India within the opening three days. Soon after, it crossed ₹100 crore during its second weekend, signalling strong audience interest.

However, the usual weekday dip followed. Earnings slowed on Monday but picked up slightly on Tuesday. By Wednesday, the film added around ₹3.5 crore domestically. This pushed its India total beyond ₹124 crore net. Gross figures climbed further, reflecting solid performance across circuits.

Meanwhile, overseas markets contributed steadily. After a modest start, the film picked up pace during the opening weekend abroad. It earned over $1 million across key territories early on. Over 13 days, international collections reached about $5.6 million. However, daily earnings abroad now show a clear decline, indicating the run may near saturation.

Among top performers of 2026

With ₹200 crore worldwide, Bhooth Bangla joined a select group of films this year. It also climbed the ranks within the horror-comedy genre. The film overtook lifetime collections of titles like Stree and Thamma, marking a notable achievement.

Now, it trails bigger hits such as Stree 2 and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. Its next target remains higher benchmarks within the genre. Whether it reaches those levels depends on its third-week performance.

Reunion drives interest

The film also marks a reunion between Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan after many years. Their past collaborations built a loyal audience base. This factor helped generate early buzz and strong openings.

The cast features familiar faces, including Tabu, Paresh Rawal, and Rajpal Yadav. Their comic timing added to the film’s appeal, especially in mass circuits.

Looking ahead, the film faces fresh competition. Upcoming releases may reduce screen count and impact collections. Still, the third weekend could offer a temporary boost.

Bhooth Bangla holds a strong position. It delivered a solid theatrical run and tapped into audience demand for light, entertaining cinema. As the box office race continues, all eyes now shift to whether it can push closer to the ₹300 crore mark before its momentum fades.
