Aishwarya Rai Bachchan returns to Cannes spotlight in sculpted blue couture
Bollywood actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan returned to the Cannes Film Festival red carpet with a dramatic fashion statement that quickly grabbed attention across social media and fan circles. The actor walked the red carpet in a structured royal blue couture outfit designed by Amit Aggarwal and greeted photographers with folded hands before posing for cameras along the French Riviera.
The appearance ended days of online speculation around whether Aishwarya would attend this year’s festival. Fans had started questioning her absence after promotional visuals from beauty giant L’Oréal Paris featured several global ambassadors but did not include her.
As soon as she arrived at Cannes, crowds gathered outside the venue and several Indian fans cheered loudly while photographers called out her name. Many visitors standing near the barricades raised phones to capture her appearance as she stepped onto the red carpet.
Aishwarya attended the screening of The Birthday Party alongside Hollywood actor Eva Longoria. The two stars represented L’Oréal Paris during the festival event.
Her outfit carried a sculptural design inspired by movement and light. The deep blue gown featured metallic textures and sharp layered details that reflected light from different angles. She paired the look with a flowing dupatta-style drape, diamond jewellery and bold red lipstick. Loose curls and soft-toned makeup completed the styling.
Later in the evening, Aishwarya changed into another couture look for the “Lights On Women’s Worth” event. This time, she chose a pastel pink gown with floral detailing and a sheer cape. The event brought together actors, filmmakers and brand ambassadors from different countries.
Her daughter Aaradhya Bachchan also attended the event and drew attention with a satin red outfit featuring a shimmering cape. Though Aaradhya has accompanied her mother to Cannes in earlier years, this appearance marked one of her most visible moments at the international festival.
Outside hotels and event venues in Cannes, Indian fans waited for hours hoping to catch a glimpse of the actor. Several social media creators livestreamed her arrival and fashion pages quickly circulated clips of her red carpet walk. Within minutes, hashtags linked to Aishwarya and Cannes started trending online.
Aishwarya remains one of the longest-serving Indian faces at Cannes. She first attended the festival more than two decades ago and later became a regular presence through her association with L’Oréal Paris. Over the years, her red carpet appearances have often sparked conversations around Indian representation in global fashion and cinema spaces.
This year, anticipation around her arrival grew stronger after online users questioned why her image did not appear in an earlier Cannes campaign video released by the beauty brand. The discussion intensified across Instagram and X, with fans repeatedly asking whether she would skip the event. The brand later assured followers that Aishwarya would attend, calming speculation.
Before leaving India, paparazzi spotted Aishwarya and Aaradhya at Mumbai airport. Videos from the airport soon circulated online and added to excitement around her Cannes return.
With another headline-making appearance, Aishwarya once again turned the Cannes red carpet into a major talking point among fashion watchers, film followers and global fans.
