PM Modi takes holy dip at Sangam, blesses Mahakumbh in prayagraj
Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj on Wednesday and took a holy dip at Triveni Sangam. Holding rudraksha beads and chanting mantras, he offered prayers while standing in the sacred waters. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath accompanied him on a boat ride to the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and mythical Saraswati.
The Mahakumbh, the world’s largest spiritual gathering, began on Paush Purnima (January 13) and will continue until Mahashivratri (February 26). So far, over 38 crore pilgrims from across India and abroad have visited, according to the Uttar Pradesh government. The event, held every 12 years, attracts saints, devotees, and dignitaries from around the world.
Earlier, on December 13, PM Modi launched 167 development projects worth ₹5,500 crore in Prayagraj. These projects aim to enhance connectivity, infrastructure, and public amenities, ensuring a seamless experience for devotees. The government has deployed extensive police and security forces across the fairgrounds, covering key points such as intersections, pontoon bridges, Akhara routes, and bathing ghats.
On Tuesday, Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk also visited Mahakumbh and participated in spiritual activities. He toured the Digital Mahakumbh Experience Centre, which showcases the blend of tradition and modernity at Mahakumbh-2025. CM Yogi Adityanath, sharing details on social media, called the event a “divine, grand, and digital” experience.
The Prime Minister’s visit highlights the cultural and spiritual significance of Mahakumbh while reinforcing India’s commitment to preserving its heritage. With millions continuing to arrive, the festival remains a symbol of devotion and faith.
