Koderma DC shares how his mother’s struggle motivates him
Ranchi, June 28 (HS) He is an accomplished man today but has not forgotten his humble past, especially the hard work that his mother put in to ensure that he got good education. He gives the credit for his success today to his mother Vimal who even today sells bangles not to make a living but because she understands the dignity of labour.
Ramesh Gholap, deputy commissioner of Koderma district, is very proud of his mothers. Ask him why doesn’t he stop her from selling bangles now, and he tells Hinduthan Samachar without any hesitation, “We have faced a difficult time for very long. The money that she earned by selling bangles was used for our education and that’s the reason she does not want to stop doing that. ”
Asked Gholap how much she earned by selling bangles, he laughs and says that he never asked his mother the question.
“I have never asked her how much she earns as at present. Now her motive is not earning but to respect the profession. She always says that she will remain in the profession till she can as this profession has helped her impart proper education to her son,” says Gholap, who comes from Solapur in Maharashtra.
He says his mother had no formal education. She was married in 1985 and soon started selling bangles after she realized that her husband Gorakh was an alcoholic.
Gholap’s father died a month before his matriculation examination but she motivated him to appear in the exams. Gholap cleared matriculation in 2003 and by 2008 did diploma in education and became a teacher before clearing IAS in 2011.
Vimal contested the election of Mukhiya in 2010 but lost. She took a loan of Rs 18000 from a self help group and sent Gholap for preparation for civil service examination out of the village. And today the son is fulfilling his mother’s dream.
