New Delhi, June 28 (HS) Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Sunday that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India was fighting on two fronts: Corona virus and tension (along the Line of Actual Control in Eastern Ladakh). He expressed confidence that India will conquer both these fronts.

In a television interview, Amit Shah said that the Government of India, State Governments and 130 crore countrymen had together fought Corona in India and our figures were much better than the rest of the world. Further, he said as of Saturday, 357 people per 1 million population were infected with Corona in India while the world figure for the same was 1250. In the US the number was 7569, 4537 in Britain, 5802 in Brazil per 1 million. “While the recovery rate from Corona on March 25 was mere 7.1 percent in the country, today it stood at 57 percent. This is a very good situation. I can say that India has fought this battle very well compared to the developed countries.”

The Home Minister said there was no community transmission of Corona in Delhi. Three senior doctors that he had spoken to, had all denied this, he said. Shah added that keeping Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal in the loop, a meeting will be held with the Chief Ministers of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana where they will formulate a coordinated strategy for NCR. The work of augmenting testing and other arrangements will also be done in NCR.

The Home Minister said that in the second week of June, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had made a statement that till July 31, there will be 5.5 lakh corona cases in Delhi. This caused a lot of fear among the people of Delhi. The Delhi government also said that people from outside Delhi will not be treated in Delhi but the decision was changed by the Central government and treatment for everyone was allowed in the capital, he said.

Amit Shah said that the number of tests in Delhi had increased by 4.5 times to 16,000 tests per day. While this increased the number of infections, but it will stop the spread of the virus. By June 30, every household in Containment Zones will be surveyed, he said.
