32,079 tests have been conducted in last 24 hours

Sample testing for COVID-19 crossed 32,000 mark and stood at 32,079 in the last 24 hours in Tamil Nadu. According to a bulletin issued by the health department of the state, about 9,371 samples were tested in Greater Chennai Corporation limits alone.
Tests and screenings for COVID-19 is being conducted in 47 government and 41 private labs in Tamil Nadu, but on June 24 one more government laboratory at Government Headquarters Hospital in Krishnagiri has won approval to undertake COVID-19 tests.
Bulletin further said that 67,468 persons have tested positive till date and 9,08,292 samples were tested negative. Testing of 671 samples is under process.
The number of active cases as on June 24 stood at 28,836 in Tamil Nadu. Over 15 passengers who returned from Kuwait, six from Qatar, four from Singapore, three from Saudi Arabia and one each from UAE, Malaysia and Nigeria on June 24 through international airport were reported COVID-19 positive.
Among interstate passengers 13 from Delhi, three from Rajasthan and one each from West Bengal, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh were detected Corona positive.
Some passengers who traveled through road and train were also tested positive. Among them 13 are from Karnataka, seven from Maharashtra, six from Kerala, three from Gujarat, two from Rajasthan and one each from West Bengal, Delhi, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and Manipur.
As many as 67,468 persons tested positive in Tamil Nadu till date.
Total number of persons tested in past 24 hours in the state stood at 29,655. Of these 1,781 are males and 1,084 females. No transgender tested
positive on June 24.
The number of positive patients discharged in Tamil Nadu on June 24 after treatment are 2,424 and 37,763 people have recovered so far.
As many as 33 (eight from private hospitals and 25 from government hospitals) deaths have been reported in past 24 hours in the state. So far the death toll stood at 866.
As far as Chennai is concerned the total number of positive cases stood at 45,814. The number of people discharged stands at 26,472 and the active cases is at 18,673, while total number of deaths reported are 668.
