Army officer Santosh Babu, who was martyred in the conflict with China is a resident of Telangana
Hyderabad, June 16 (HS) One of the 3 soldiers martyred in the conflict between the army of India and China is an army officer of Telangana state and he is a resident of Suryapet. The news of Bikku Malla Santosh Babu, being martyred in the conflict on the Indo-China border, came to light after when his wife was informed of his martyrdom from New Delhi, a short while ago. He belonged to the 16th Battalion of Bihar Regiment.
Army officer Babu’s father Upendra and his mother Manjula claimed that they are indeed proud of Babu’s martyrdom and at the same time were at a loss of the words at the irreparable loss. Sources in the family said that Santosh Babu was working on the borders of India /Pakistan & Indo/ China for one and a half years. He is survived by his wife Santoshi, daughter Abhi (9) and son Anirudh (4) pursuing education at an army school in Delhi.
An Indian Army officer and two soldiers were killed during a violent confrontation with Chinese troops in the Galwan Valley in eastern Ladakh on Monday night. Army officer Santosh Babu’s martyrdom has been reported on Monday i.e. last night.
Santosh Babu , according to family sources was a bright student and pursued his schooling from Korkonda Sainik School in Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh and his father was the manager of State Bank reported to have retired a year ago.
Family sources said that Santosh Babu was also transferred to Hyderabad about 3 months ago but was unable to join duties due to lockdown, As soon as the news of Santosh Babu’s martyrdom was aired in the media in Suryapet town, many made a beeline to his parents’ residence, that included local legislators and people from all walks of life.
Santoshbabu’s body would reach Hyderabad by a special flight tomorrow morning and his last rites shall be performed with full state honors in Suryapet by noon.
