NIA secures custody of a woman spy, LeT handler
New Delhi, June 13 (HS): The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken the custody of a 22-year-old Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) handler, who was reportedly in touch with several handlers in Pakistan. The NIA officials said that she used to communicate through WhatsApp groups.
“She has also distributed Indian SIMs and was handling the communication through WhatsApp groups,” an official said.
As the probe is underway, the investigation agency refused to divulge more information into the matter. According to the official, “We have taken up probe recently and trying to bust the female spy ring active in the country,” the official further said.
The woman caught has been identified as Tania Praveen. She was arrested a few weeks back by the agencies. She had been in regular touch with Pakistani handlers and had been using Pakistani SIM cards. The NIA has taken 10-day custody of Praveen and the agency will probe her in its Kolkata office.
