DDC Poonch discusses action plan for water conservation and catchment area treatment
Poonch, June 10 (HS): District Development Commissioner Poonch Rahul Yadav today discussed the action plan for water conservation and catchment area treatment here in his office chamber.
The meeting discussed the various important points based on which an action plan will be constituted for district water conservation plan and district water security plan.
DDC Poonch directed the concerned officers to submit the report identifying areas with water scarcity and also gave details of total water requirements for different purposes in the district such as human consumption, animal requirement and irrigation and agricultural purposes. He directed the departments of agriculture, PHE and IFC to submit a plan to his office at the earliest.
Meanwhile, in order to meet the shortage of drinking water in the district, District Development Commissioner, Rajouri Mohammad Aijaz Asad today commissioned three water tankers and handed over to the PHE department.
It is pertinent to mention that two tankers have the capacity of six thousand litres and the third one has that of four thousand litres. Few months back DDC Rajouri released an amount of Rs 36 lacs for procurement of water tankers.
DDC said that there were complaints from the far flung areas regarding the shortage of water and earlier the PHE department had only three tankers in the district. He said that the capacity of the department has been doubled with the commissioning of three additional tankers.
