New Delhi, June 05 (HS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that biodiversity is very important in the prevailing situation in the country. He said during the last couple of months, life has slowed down but due to this we have been able to see the biodiversity around us.

While speaking on the occasion of World Environment Day, the Prime Minister said, “we reiterate our pledge to preserve our planet’s rich biodiversity.”

In a tweet, PM Modi said, “On #World Environment Day, we reiterate our pledge to preserve our planet’s rich biodiversity. Let us collectively do whatever possible to ensure the flora and fauna with whom we share the Earth thrive. May we leave an even better planet for the coming generations.”

The PM said that there were a number of birds that had become extinct due to pollution, have reappeared during the Lockdown. “We are also getting news of animals walking freely at many places. Like me, you would also have seen these pictures on social media. Many people are writing, sharing pictures that mountains that are far away from their homes are visible now,” PM said.

He further said that after seeing these scenarios many would have thought if the same scenario could be maintained. “These pictures have also inspired some people to do something for nature. To keep rivers clean, sky clear and ensure birds and animals get their right to live freely,” Modi said.

He said that we can draw inspiration to coexist with the nature by creating balance. “We keep listening that water is life, water will shape our tomorrow, but for this we have responsibility also. We have to save every drop of water. There are traditional and simple ways to save rain water in villages as well as in urban areas,” Modi said.

He further said, “Even if we conserve water for 5-7 days, it will quench the thirst of mother earth. Water will go back to earth and will make a strength of new life. So in this rainy season, we all should make efforts to save and conserve water.”

He said that the clean atmosphere is directly linked to our life and future of our children. Therefore we have to be concerned about it individually.
