Three JeM militants killed in Pulwama, internet snapped

SRINAGAR, June 03 (HS):Three militants were killed and an army soldier injured in an ongoing gunfight with government forces in Astan Mohalla Kangan area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district in today morning.

Police official said three JeM militants were killed in the ongoing operation. However, the identity of the slain militants was yet to be ascertained.

Reports said a joint team of Police, Army’s 53 RR and 183 BN CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Astan Mohalla on a tip off.

As the team approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them which was retaliated by the forces, triggering off an encounter.

A senior police officer confirmed the exchange of fire between the joint team and the militants. As per sources, two to three militants were believed to be trapped.

Internet was snapped in Pulwama district as precautionary measures.
