Indore, May 28 (HS): Corona continues to wreak havoc in Indore district of Madhya Pradesh. New figures found 78 more positive patients. The deaths of three people have also been confirmed. So far, 3260 people have been affected by the virus. While 122 people have lost their lives.
Amidst all this, in view of the increasing patients in the city, the administration has decided that the lockdown will not end even after May 31. This can be extended to June 20-25. Public places like malls, cinema halls, schools, Mondays, gyms, clubs can be opened only till the end of July or August.
Collector Manish Singh has indicated this in discussions with journalists regarding the lockdown. According to the collector, there is still no awareness among the people. They are neither following physical distancing, nor using masks.
At the same time, it is speculated that the central government can increase the lockdown again for two weeks after 31 May. This lockdown may be different in nature, being extended to reduce the speed of infection with the corona virus. A top home ministry official said that the next phase of lockdown would not be the same as the earlier lockdown and most of the focus would be in 11 cities with 70 per cent cases of Covid-19 in the country. The six major metros are Indore, Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Ahmedabad and Kolkata among these cities. Apart from this, it also includes Pune, Thane, Jaipur, and Surat.
Collector Manish Singh has said that the lockdown should be opened slowly in a phased manner. He clarified that we are making a model to open the lockdown. For this, we have made health related criteria. If the number of corona patients increases, as well as the number of patients going to the ICU and ventilator also increases, then the infection in the city will be increasing. If this happens, the lockdown will be carried forward.
