UP to set a commission for migrant labourers
Lucknow,May 25(HS)Deeply hurt by “ill-treatment” given to labouers from Uttar Pradesh by goverments in Maharashtra,Punjab and Rajasthan,Uttar chief minister Yogi Adityanath has decided to set up a migrant comission to suggest ways and means to employ them in the state itself.
Simultaneously,he has decided to set up skilled and unskilled labourers’ data bank.The unskilled labourers will be provided different types of training keeping in mind the raw materials available in the and requirements of industries set up so far.
After the full list is prepared and they are provided insurance cover,the states like Maharashtra may face labour shortage and delay in execution of new projects.
The Yogi government has already provided Rs 1000 each to labourers who are back, in addition to foodgrains.It was the first to offer to pay to the railways for transportation of migrant labourers.
A record number of them have already come back.A government spokesman said on Monday that as many as 23 lakh labourers were back by Sunday(yesterday) evening.Most of others are likely to return soon.
