9 out of 10 chances of hosting India tour: Kevin Roberts
Melbourne,22 May(HS): Cricket Australia CEO Kevin Roberts says that there is a 9 out of 10 possibilities that Australia will host the home Test series against India.
“I think there is definitely no such thing in today’s world, so I can’t say 10 out of 10, but I would say 9 out of 10,” Roberts said at a roundtable organized by the Australian media.
“I would be really surprised if we could not host the Indian team. We will just have to wait and see how it will be possible,” he said.
Australia is scheduled to tour England for the ODI and 20-20 series in July, but Coronavirus has now put the program in doubt. England also has to host the West Indies in July and Pakistan in August.
Roberts said he spoke to the England and Wales Cricket Board on Wednesday and said there was some possibility that Australia would tour England after the West Indies and Pakistan.
“Obviously, we will not jeopardize the safety of the players, but the best test would be that the tour of Pakistan and the West Indies will run successfully without stopping,” he said.
Roberts was less optimistic about the T20 World Cup starting in October and said that the decision would be entirely up to the ICC.
