Cricket should not be a priority when the country is fighting againt corona: Wood
New Delhi,18 May(HS): England fast bowler Mark Wood said that cricket should not be a priority when the country is fighting against coronavirus epidemic.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) last month postponed the professional game until 01 July, but the England players will return to training at different venues across the country from next week.
Wood told the news agency Reuters, “The country wants to watch the game and we want to play the game, but safety is the first thing. Will the players be safe, will the foreign players, management, caterers, cameraman, all be well? Cricket will not be safe until everything will be all right.”
“The more we like to play the game and want the game back, I think the more it should be for the country,” he said.
The social distance protocol will prevent fans from attending matches at the stadium and Wood said their absence will be felt by players who consider them as the 12th man.
