Jamieson gets a place in New Zealand’s list for great performance against India
Wellington,15 May(HS): Long-time fast bowler Kyle Jamieson has been included in New Zealand cricket’s one-year central contract list due to his brilliant performance in the Test series against India.
Apart from Jamieson, South African-born batsman Devon Conway and left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel have also received their first central contracts.
In this contract, 20 players playing in the national team get a base salary with normal match fees for the next 12 months.
“It is really exciting to offer contracts to Kyle, Ajaz and Devon, who have impacted greatly in the last 12 months,” selection manager Gavin Larsen said in a statement.
He said, “Nothing was lacking in Kyle’s performance in front of a great team like India and at the age of 25 he definitely got a big future.
Talking about Ajaz, he said, “We currently see him as an unsustainable Test spinner and he wants to make his mark at that place after some great efforts with the ball in the subcontinent.”
Regarding Devon, he said that his form in all three formats cannot be ignored in the last three seasons and he is going to be a great option to add to the batting.
Jamieson took a total of 9 wickets in the two-match Test series against India.
The contracted list of New Zealand players is as follows:
Tom Blundell, Trent Bolt, Devon Conway, Colin de Grandholm, Lockie Ferguson, Martin Guptill, Matt Henry, Kyle Jamieson, Tom Latham, Henry Nichols, James Neesham, Ajaz Patel, Mitchell Santner, Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee, Ross Taylor, Neil Wegner, BJ Watling, Kane Williamson and Will Young.
