Mamata condoles the death of migrant labourers in Maharashtra

Kolkata,08 May(H.S): Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee joined Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several other leaders across the country in expressing her deep grief at the horrific death of 14 migrant workers at Karmad near Aurangabad in Maharashtra early today.
 
In a condolence message through her twitter handle the Chief Minister said ‘ I am struck by grief to hear of the horrific incident involving a goods train which ran over innocent migrants in #Aurangabad, Maharashtra. My deep condolences to the families of the deceased. May their souls rest in peace. Praying for the speedy recovery of those injured’.
 
At least 14 migrant workers from Madhya Pradesh who used to work in a private steel plant near Aurangabad were returning home by foot and slept on the railway track at Karnad, about 65 km from Aurangabad, last night when they were run over by a freight train. All of them died on the spot. At least five others were also severely injured in the accident and admitted to a nearby hospital.
 
Prime minister Narendra Modi, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal have also expressed their deep grief and sympathy at the very unfortunate death of so many migrant workers and injury to some others at a tragic incident. An interdepartmental inquiry has also been ordered by the South Central Railway.
 
Meanwhile, the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced an exgratia payment of Rs 5 lakh to the families of each of the deceased. besides Rs one lakh each for the injured.
