Asia Cup will not be canceled for IPL: Ehsan Mani
New Delhi,15 April(HS): Pakistan Cricket Board President Ehsan Mani said that they would not cancel the Asia Cup in Dubai in September for the Indian Premier League (IPL). This year’s IPL season has been postponed due to Coronavirus epidemic.
The 13th season of the IPL was scheduled to be played from 29 March to 24 May, but the Government of India has put a lockdown across the country till May 3 to deal with the deadly coronavirus.
In a PCB podcast, Mani said on Tuesday, “I have read and heard about these speculations so far, but just remember that the absence and absence of the Asia Cup is not just a decision between Pakistan and India.”
He said, “If cricket activities start again, it is very important to have the Asia Cup because the development of Asian cricket depends on the money from the tournament. It is important for many countries that are members of the Asian Cricket Council .”
Pakistan was supposed to host the Asia Cup this year, but India expressed reluctance due to their security concerns and strained relations between the two countries, following which the tournament was shifted from Pakistan to Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Mani said about the Asia Cup event that he does not know whether it will be a happened or not. But if conditions are favourable then it will be organized.
