Most Corona cases in UP were reported from western part

Lucknow,April 14(HS)Seventy per cent of Covid-19 cases have been reported from the western part of Uttar Pradesh which is closer to Delhi,one of the two major hotspots in the country.Maharashtra is another.

Six districts of the region including Agra,Meerut,Ghaziabad and Saharanpur have registered most of these cases.In all,there are over 500 active cases.

So far the disease has claimed five lives out of which three deaths have occurred in this part.

It is also worth mentioning here that half of these cases are linked to a religious Muslim organisation,Tablighi Jamma headquartered in Delhi which had invited preachers from all over the world last month.Many of them were found to be Corona positive.

Some of them travelled to this part of the state and did not consult physicians.It was one of the reasons for spread of virus.Many of them hiding in different mosques in the area.Why did they do so is yet to be known,an official said here on Tuesday, a couple of hours ater announcement of extension of lockdown by PM Narendra Modi.

The number of Covid cases is still on the rise.As many as 102 new cases were detected on Monday.Thirty-five of them were residents of Agra alone.It has 139 positive cases in all.Two women have died of the disease in this city of Taj.
