After assistance to daily wagers, UP govt to clear MNREGA dues
Lucknow,March 29(HS)The Uttar Pradesh government which has provided cash assistance and assistance in Kind to daily wagers who are unemployed because of 21-day lockdown which was enforced this week has decided to clear dues of workers engaged under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme across the state.
The decision will benefit as many as 86,000 workers in Gorakhpur district alone.A total sum of Rs eight crore will be tranferred to their accounts.Over 1.78 lakh workers are covered by the scheme in this district which was his work-place before shifting the base to Lucknow.
Money will be transferred electronically on Monday morning.The chief minister will also talk to some of the workers through video-conferencing on the day.
A function will be held for the purpose in one of the villages where Vantangiyas live.Vantangiyas are those who were brought to the area from Myanmar by British under the afforestation drive.
