Prahlad Joshi meets Sonia ahead of upcoming Parliament session
New Delhi, June 07 (HS): Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi on Friday met senior Congress leader and United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chairperson Sonia Gandhi at her residence in New Delhi’s 10 Janpath ahead of the upcoming Parliament session starting from June 17.
Apart, from BJP leader Prahlad Joshi, Minister of State (MoS) for Parliamentary Affairs, Arjun Ram Meghwal and Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Narendra Singh Tomar were also present at the meeting with Gandhi.
After the meeting which lasted for 20 minutes, Tomar briefed the media that the meeting was held with all opposition leaders to ensure their party’s cooperation and smooth functioning of the Parliament.
Earlier, on June 5, Prahlad Joshi along with two Ministers of state in his ministry – Arjun Ram Meghwal and V. Muraleedharan met the Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad at his residence.
The first session of the 17th Lok Sabha would be held from June 17 to July 26 during which the Union Budget under the second term of the newly-elected Narendra Modi Government would be presented on July 5 in the Parliament.
The first two days of the Parliament session would be earmarked for all the members taking oath followed by the speaker’s election the next day.
According to sources in Congress, the ruling BJP Government has convened an all party meeting on June 16, a day ahead of the starting of Parliament session to ensure full cooperation from all opposition parties for smooth functioning of the Parliament.
