Mamata orders CID probe into the murder of party worker at Nimta
Nimta (North 24 Parganas)/ Kolkata, June 07 (HS): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited the families of the slain Trinamool Congress leader Nirmal Kundu at his residence at Nimta, on the outskirt of Kolkata yesterday and blamed BJP for the murder, while promising to reveal the truth behind the last Tuesday’s (4 June) killing.
While visiting the families of the slain leader and talking to Kundu’s wife for about ten minutes, the Chief Minister assured them of maximum assistance from the party and the government. She also promised that following a CID inquiry the truth behind such a brutal murder would soon come out.
Later, she participated in a protest meeting, organised by local TMS leadership near Nrmal Kundu’s house to protest his murder and demanding stringent punishment to the assailants and other perpetrators behind this crime. The Chief Minister said that she had already ordered a CID probe into the whole incident and asked them to leave no stone unturned to catch all perpetrators at the earliest.
Since two BJP workers had already been arrested in connection with the murder and both of them were charged with appointing a hired killed to shot dead Kundu without any provocation, the Chief Minister in her address as usual vent her anger on BJP and blamed the party for creating divisions among the peace loving people of the state and fomenting trouble to unstable her government.
“I shall not allow such things to happen and take all steps to bring these goondas to book,” she said and instructed the accompanying senior police officials to report her the progress of their investigation on daily basis.
It may be recalled that two motor cycle borne miscreants shot dead Kundu, a local district level leader of TMC near his house in the residential area of this district town on Tuesday (4 June) evening.
As the assailants fired two shots from close range, Kundu feel on the ground in a pool of blood and died on the spot, while his assailants fled soon after the incident.
Apprehending that a local BJP worker Suman Kundu and his accomplice Sujay Das were behind the murder, the local people and TMC supporters raided their houses and ransacked them. Later, both were arrested from a nearby area. They were also charged with appointing a professional hired killer for the murder.
Though it is yet to be known what provoked the murder of Nrmal Kundu, following the arrest of two BJP workers, it has now become a political fight between two parties with each blaming the other for the crime.
However, state BJP President Dilip Ghosh has categorically denied any involvement of the party or any BJP worker into the crime and blamed the incidents as the result of intra party squabbles among the TMC workers.
