Shivpal Singh became the second Indian to qualifies for Tokyo Olympics in javelin throw
New Delhi, March 11 (HS): India’s javelin thrower Shivpal Singh has qualified for the Tokyo Olympics 2020. Shivpal secured a place in the Olympics, scoring 85.47 meters in the ACNW league tournament, in South Africa.
Shivpal now became the second Indian to qualify for the Olympics along with Neeraj Chopra in the javelin throw event. Neeraj Chopra made a strong comeback after injury, scoring 87.86 meters and secured his place in the Tokyo Olympics.
Giving this information on his Facebook page, Shivpal wrote, “I have made it to the Olympics, covering a distance of 87.47 meters in South Africa. I would like to thank all of you for supporting me.”
India’s Sports Minister Kiran Rijiju on his Twitter account also congratulated Shivpal for this achievement.
