External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar visits Srinagar
New Delhi, March 9 (HS): External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar on Monday arrived on a surprise visit to Kashmir. Although the main purpose of the Minister’s visit is not yet known, the speculations are that he might meet the families of the students stranded in Iran.
Besides, the Minister would also visit the Srinagar Passport Office located on the banks of the famous Dal Lake in Boulevard area of the city. “The exact purpose of visit of the Minister to Srinagar can’t be ascertained at this point of time but it might be some personal reasons of this visit,” said an MEA official.
Meanwhile the sources said that Jaishankar will also visit Passport Seva Kendra in Baramulla district of North Kashmir. The parents of these students have been continuously appealing the government to lift them from Iran due to coronavirus scare.
