Nirbhaya case: SC dismisses Pawan’s curative petition
New Delhi, Mar 02 (HS): One of the convict Pawan’s curative petition has been dismissed by the Supreme Court. The petition had sought commutation of his death penalty to life imprisonment.
The Supreme Court has dismissed the curative petition of Pawan Kumar. The matter was heard by Justice NV Ramanna, Justice Arun Mishra, Justice Rohinton Nariman, Justice Bhanumati and Justice Ashok Bhushan in the Chamber. Now everyone’s eyes are on Patiala House Court.
Along with this, a petition was filed in the Delhi High Court on Saturday seeking directions to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to know the physical and mental condition of the four convicts. Hearing on this can also be done today. Apart from this, the application seeking a stay on the hanging will also be heard.
Pawan Kumar is the only culprit who still had some legal options left. The curative petition has been rejected in this. Now only mercy petition option is left. Pawan’s lawyer AP Singh said that now we will file mercy petition to the President. Due to this, hanging can be postponed.
