ICC banned Oman’s Yousuf Abdulrahim Al Balushi for seven years
New Delhi, Feb 24 (HS): The International Cricket Council (ICC) banned Oman cricketer Yousuf Abdulrahim Al Balushi from all forms of cricket for seven years for his involving in match fixing.
All the charges are related to ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers 2019, held at UAE. Balushi accepted all the four charges of breaching the ICC anti- corruption code of conduct.
According to a statement of ICC, Al Balushi breached Article 2.1.1 of the Anti-Corruption Code, being party to an agreement or effort to fix or contrive in any way the result, progress, conduct or any other aspect of matches. Besides he also breached Article 2.1.4, Article 2.4.4 and Article 2.4.7, they all are related to corruption practices.
“This is a very serious offence where a player attempted but failed to get a team mate to engage in corrupt activity in high profile games and this is reflected in the severity of the sentence,” ICC General Manager, Integrity, Alex Marshall sai.
