New Delhi , Feb 17 (HS): Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman tweeted, “The Finance Ministry convened a meeting on Tuesday, February 18, to assess the impact of Coronavirus infection, disruption in the Make in India campaign and the impact on the country’s imports and export. Related parties are welcome. If you cannot attend the meeting, email your suggestions to FMO @ NICdotin (fmo@nic.in).

Significantly, COVID-19, originating  from China, has spread in more than 25 countries of the world. The number of people who died of coronavirus in China has reached beyond 1700. Meanwhile, 40 Americans have been found infected with Corona among those stranded on a cruise in Japan. 3 Indians aboard this cruise are also infected with Coronavirus.

The economy of the whole world is being affected by the havoc of Corona. IMF Managing Director Kristina Georgieva said that this year the epidemic caused by the coronavirus could harm global economic growth. The IMF Managing Director said at the ‘Global Women’s Forum’ in Dubai that the growth rate of the global economy may decline, we estimate the decline to be around 0.1–0.2 percent.

Rating agency Moody’s Investors Service has slashed India’s gross domestic product (GDP) growth estimates for the year 2020. Moody’s said that due to the slowdown in the global economy due to the outbreak of Novel Coronavirus, India’s GDP growth may slow down. He said that any reform in India should be considered less than expected.
