Civil engineer arrested for flashing genitals at woman in Delhi Metro train
New Delhi, Feb 16 (HS): The Delhi Metro Rail Police (DMRP) has arrested the person who allegedly flashed his genitals to a woman in a metro train last week. The person has been identified as Abhilash Kumar (28), a civil engineer by profession.
The metro police arrested the accused from Gurugram in Haryana. A resident of Sector 22, Gurugram works at a private company and is unmarried.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Saturday said that the suspect in Sultanpur case was traced by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Security Cell and people at Automatic Fare Collection(AFC) gates.
Immediate after the incident came into the notice, the DMRC took to Twitter and wrote, “We request the public to use the passenger emergency alarm button if they notice any suspicious behavior and inform the train operator immediately. Please also give the coach number that you are travelling in so that the person can be apprehended at the earliest.”
The DMRC officials said that the accused Abhilash Kumar had recharged his Contact less Smart Cards (CSC) online with his mobile phone number which was later traced, helping the police track him down.
The Delhi Police said, “The accused involved in molestation of a woman in which he flashed his private parts to the woman in the running metro, has been arrested. The case has been registered at PS Ghitorni. Interrogation and investigations are on.”
Meanwhile, reacting to the tweets sent by the woman, the Delhi Commission For Women (DCW) had on Friday issued notices to the Delhi Police and the DMRC in this regard.
