A person opened fire at Jamia Univ. injuring a student

New Delhi, Jan 30 (HS): One person was critically injured when a man brandished a gun and opened fire during a protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act outside Jamia Millia Islamia in here on Thursday
. A person sustained injuries in his hand and was taken to the Holy Family hospital in the same vicinity.
While firing at the student, the man was shouting as saying, “Yeh lo azaadi…Hindustan zindabad…Delhi Police zindabad.” Delhi Police personnel were present when the shooting took place. The man has been arrested by the police and investigations into the matter has been initiated.
The students who were protesting at Jamia University were to hold a march from Jamia Milia Islamia University to Rajghat on Thursday, the 72nd death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
The protest in the University started on December 15, against the amended citizenship Act (CAA) that turned violent. Four DTC buses, 100 private vehicles, and 10 police bikes were damaged and many of those were set on fire. Police had to enter the university campus to control the violence.
