In the new year, many instances of attacks in the Green Zone have been revealed. Since the death of Iranian General Qasim Sulemani, Iran is constantly seeking revenge from America. Earlier on January 4, the US Embassy was attacked. Thereafter rockets were fired at the American hideout on 6 January.

On 8 January, dozens of ballistic missiles were fired at two military bases in Al-Assad and Irbil. After this, the airbase was attacked on 13 January. At the same time, on 15 January, the Iraqi airbase was attacked once by rockets. The US has blamed Iran-backed paramilitary groups for similar attacks on the green-zone in recent times.
