New Delhi, Jan 17 (HS): Abdullah Azam Khan, son of Samajwadi Party MP Azam Khan (Azam Khan), has not received any relief from the Supreme Court at present.

The Supreme Court on Friday issued a notice on a plea moved by Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan’s son Abdullah Azam whose election from Suar Assembly constituency in Uttar Pradesh was annulled for allegedly being less than the mandatory 25 years of age when he filed nomination. Abdullah Azam Khan has challenged the Allahabad High Court’s decision in the Supreme Court regarding the cancellation of the legislature.

The Supreme Court has also issued a notice to petitioner Kazim Ali Khan. The court will now hold the next hearing on this matter on 25 March. The Supreme Court refused to stay the Allahabad High Court order. CJI SA Bobde said Khan’s lawyer Kapil Sibal that one should not be so impatient in such cases.

The Chief Justice said that there is a possibility that this may have happened. The HC order is based on evidence. If you have a doubt, we will investigate. The bench of the Supreme Court said that documents other than school records have been submitted indicating that Mohammad Abdullah Azam Khan was eligible to contest the election and due to doubts arising out of these documents, the bench will hear the case. “We have read the order of the Allahabad High Court, it is based on evidence,” the bench said.
