Nifty at record high, Sensex crosses 42 thousand marks for the first time.

Mumbai, Jan 16(HS): The US signed a first-stage trade agreement with China on Wednesday. The Indian stock markets today on Thursday, the Sensex crossed the 42,000-mark for the first time rising 134.58 points in the opening trade.

The Nifty also opened at a record high of 12,375.65 after opening 32.35 points higher. Nifty, was seen trading at 12,370 points with an increase of up to 30 points, which is a record high.

US Markets on the other hand, after the first phase the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 set a record. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.3 percent to 29,030.22 and the S&P 500 gained 0.2 percent to end at 3,289.30.

At the end of trading on Wednesday, the Sensex fell 79.90 points to close at 41,872.73, while the Nifty recorded a fall of 19 points and closed at 12,343.30. During the trading, the Sensex fell by up to 250 points, while the Nifty fell to near 80 points.
