Nirbhaya gangrape case: SC rejects the curative petition of two convicts.
New Delhi , Jan 14 (HS): The curative petition of two convicts in the Nirbhaya gangrape case has been rejected by the Supreme Court. The five-judge bench of Justice NV Ramana, Justice Arun Mishra, Justice Rohinton Fali Nariman, Justice R.C. Bhanumathi and Justice Ashok Bhushan heard the petitions filed by Vinay Sharma and Mukesh.
In the curative petition, the convict Vinay Sharma had said that the petitioner alone is not being punished, his entire family suffered due to criminal proceedings. There is no fault of the family, yet they have suffered social harassment and humiliation. At the same time, advocate AP Singh said that the parents of the petitioner are old and extremely poor.
The Patiala House court had issued a black warrant for the four convicts in the Nirbhaya gang-rape case. The court has fixed the time for hanging the four convicts in this case at 7 am on January 22. A dummy trial had also been done in Tihar Jail recently.
