Delhi High Court issues notice to Apple, Whatsapp, Google..
New Delhi, Jan 13(HS): On Jawaharlal Nehru University violence, Delhi High Court issues notice to Apple, Whatsapp, Google on the petition of three JNU professors seeking to preserve CCTV footage, Whatsapp conversations and other evidence related to January 5 violence at the university campus.
The High Court has issued notices to Apple, WhatsApp, and Google regarding the video related to the violence and asked to secure the video. At the time of the violence, many types of videos, photos on WhatsApp, including WhatsApp, went viral, in which many protesters may be identified.
During the hearing, Delhi Police told the court that a letter has been written on the behalf of the university administration and CCTV footage has been demanded. However, the administration has not yet responded to this letter.
This petition was filed in the court by JNU Professors Amit Parameswaran, Atul Sood and Vinayak Shukla, in which the court has been asked to give the necessary orders to the Delhi Government and the Commissioner of Police. The name of some WhatsApp groups was also mentioned in this petition, including messages, photos, videos of ‘Unity against left’, ‘Friends of RSS’.
