Peeragarhi factory fire: Rescue operation by NDRF and Fire brigade personnel underway, 14 rescued.

New Delhi, Jan 02 (HS): A massive fire broke out at Battery Factory located in Peeragadhi Udyog Vihar area of ​​outer Delhi at 4 am on Thursday. As many as 35 fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the fire. Fire department workers started relief and rescue operations and managed to save all the people trapped there.

So far 14 persons have been rescued and are currently undergoing treatment for burns, injuries, and suffocation. Injured have been admitted to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital and Balaji Action Hospital.

According to the information, three firemen extinguishing the fire were buried under the debris, while four firemen and labor working in the factory were also injured. All the top officers of the fire department, police, NDRF, and civil defense teams, as well as ambulances, have reached the spot.

According to a senior fire official of DFS, Atul Garg, a call for a fire in a factory was received at 4.23 am on Thursday. Garg said the fire was followed by a sudden blast, due to which the building collapsed.

A total of 35 fire tenders were rushed to the spot. Personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) were also at the spot to conduct rescue operations, said the official.

Giving information on the factory fire, Rajendra Sagar, Additional DCP (Outer) on Peeragarhi factory fire said, 14 people, were injured in the incident, including 13 fire brigade personnel. The back portion of the building has collapsed, fire though is under control now, rescue operations continuing.

Delhi CM Kejriwal expressed grief and was very sad to hear about this incident. “I am watching the entire incident closely. Firemen are doing their utmost. I pray for those who are trapped,” Kejriwal said.
