Bengal Governor expresses happiness at CM’s prompt reply .
Kolkata, 28 December (HS): West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar today expressed his happiness at the prompt reply from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to his letter for ensuring ‘improvement in education scenario’ of the state and said ‘in the democracy, we have to move in togetherness’.
In a twitter message two days after receiving the ‘prompt reply’ from the Chief Minister to his letter, sent to her on 25 December seeking an immediate meeting with her to discuss the current situation in the institutions of higher education in the state, the Governor today said ‘Efforts to ensure improvement in education scenario seem to be bearing results. To my communication of December 25,CM has responded on Dec 26 that Minister-in-Charge Education will discuss all the issues. I look forward to this. In a democracy, we have to move to togetherness’.
It may be recalled that the Governor, whose constitutional relationship with the state government as well as with the Chief Minister and several members of her cabinet has recently been at the lowest ebb for various reasons, wrote another letter to Mamata Banerjee on the Christmas day itself where he sought her presence at another meeting with all university Vice-Chancellors in the state on 13 January to discuss certain other aspects of the educational scenario in the state.
But as the meeting was called by him, there was no reply from the Chief minister till today causing tremendous unhappiness and dismay to the Governor which he also expressed openly. But after receiving the prompt reply from the Chief Minister to his second letter on the same day, Governor Dhankar looked very happy which he duly reflected in his twitter message this afternoon.
Now it remains to be seen when the proposed meeting between the Governor, also the constitutional head of the state, and state Higher Education minister Partha Chatterjee, considered to be one of the most vociferous critics of Jagdeep Dhankar, would actually take place, as suggested by the Chief Minister to sort out all differences.
