CAA-NRC Protest: 372 FIRs in UP so far, 1246 people arrested, 5558 in custody
Lucknow, Dec 28 (HS): UP Police’s action is continuing in the protests in Uttar Pradesh (Uttar Pradesh) over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and NRC (NRC). So far, a total of 372 cases have been registered in different districts of the state, while 1,246 people have been arrested. 5,558 people have also been taken into custody. Apart from this, the state police are also constantly monitoring social media. Since December 10, 95 cases have been registered on charges of posting provocations here, in which 125 people have been arrested.
Action on about 21 thousand objectionable posts on social media, in addition to this, UP Police have taken action on 20,950 objectionable social media posts. These include Twitter’s 10380, Facebook’s 10339 and YouTube’s 181 posts. All these cases are being investigated by the SIT constituted in the districts.
