Mulayam’s Chhoti Bahu’s support to NRC:political analysts baffled
Lucknow,December 17(HS)It is well known in political and other cirlces here that all is not well with the first political family in Uttar Pradesh.
What has, however, baffled many leaders is Mulayam Singh Yadav younger daughter-in-law’s recent actions and reactions. She has been holding other views on major issues and coming out in the open with regular intervals.
When Aparna Yadav had come out in support of Prime Minister’s Swachcha Bharat Abhiyan some in the Yadav family and outside had taken it as an isolated case. Now it appears that it was not.
Four months ago she had nothing but praise for him for his move to withdraw the special status given to Jammu and Kashmir. To her it was “historic” and had given a “befitting reply” to stone-pelters.The Samajwadi Party she belongs to held another view.Party president Akhilesh Yadav opposed it in the Lok Sabha and outside.
Other party had termed it unconstitutional and hoped that the Supreme Court would reject it calling the decision against the spirit of the Constitution.
It is not yet clear why she was not asked to contest from Lucknow Cantt Assembly seat again in October last when by-election for this constituency was held.It was offered to another candidate who who was defeated by the BJP.Aparna had contested from this seat in 2017.
She was not successful but many had expected her to seek re-election from the same seat.
The Chhoti Bahu has raised controversy again by backing the BJP proposal to create a national register for citizens.”Why should those who live in this country be afraid of the NRC”,she has tweeted a day ago.
This is again against the opinion of her party president who has called it “divisive” and aimed at frightening the Muslims.
Some party leaders have brought it to the notice of party founder and family patriarch Mulayal. But he has maintained a stoic silence on the subject so far.
