Assam: 4 killed in police firing, 190 arrested..
Dispur, Dec 17 (HS): Protests are continuing in different parts of the country against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). In view of the protests, Assam Police has arrested 190 protesters. Among them is a Congress worker, all of whom are accused of plotting violence.
However, four people have also died in police firing. Assam Police DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahant said that four people have died in police action. Situations had become such that the police had to shoot, although now the situation has improved to a great extent. The DGP said that so far 136 cases have been registered, and 190 people arrested.
There are protests reported in many parts of the Northeast against the Citizenship Amendment Act. Most of these protests have taken place in Assam. So far, police have detained more than 3000 people across the state. The police claim that there was a political conspiracy behind the violence, apart from this, four people have died in police firing so far. Young students who were detained for participating in the protest have been released after counseling.
