Rs 3.44 lakhs worth 23 cattle saved from smuggling
Tura, 16 December(HS): The attempts of cattle smuggling from Meghalaya Border to Bangladesh has increased in the recent time. The cattle are transported in trucks through the National highway from the neighbouring states. BSF had expressed its concern to Meghalaya Police and had requested to tackle the menace jointly. In one such effort, on On 15 Dec’ 2019 at about 1000 hrs, BSF and Meghalaya police of PS Namchapara carried out a joint Operation at Village Ramchinga and its surrounding area and seized 23 nos cattle worth Rs. 3,44,200/- which were meant for smuggling to Bangladesh from Tura.
BSF PRO in his statement expressed his gratitude to Meghalaya police and said that if more such joint operation are under taken, cattle smuggling is bound to come down to minimum in Meghalaya Border.
