Ruckus in AMU over CAB: Case filed against 500 students

New Delhi, Dec 16 (HS): On Sunday night the police took action against students protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Act at Jamia Millia University in Delhi. A case has been filed against them. Two dozen students have also been detained. On the other hand, the police suspect that there may be a conspiracy of external elements in the ruckus in AMU. The district administration has also identified 150 such people. Police suspect that the suspended and expelled students incited people during the protests and carried out violence and arson.

The students of AMU staged this protest immediately after the protest near Jamia Milia Islamia in Delhi. In view of the situation, the university administration has ordered the university to be closed by 5 January 2020. Meanwhile, the university registrar Abdul Hameed said that in view of the prevailing situation, the university has been closed indefinitely and all the hostels are being evacuated. In terms of security, the PAC and a large number of police forces have been deployed along with the Rapid Action Force in the AMU. On the other hand, DGP OP Singh said that the situation is normal on the campus and the police are patrolling.
