Protest continues in the Northeast against the Citizenship Amendment Bill.

Dispur, Dec 12 (HS): Protests against the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) continue in the Northeast. Furious demonstrations are taking place in many areas including Assam’s capital Guwahati and Dibrugarh. Flights going to Assam are being canceled due to this. Vistara, IndiGo, and SpiceJet have canceled dozens of their flights till 13 December.

After the curfew was imposed in Dibrugarh, all flights from Dibrugarh’s Mohanbari Airport have been canceled. There are 12 flight cancellations of Dibrugarh.AI 705/706 Kolkata-Dibrugarh-Kolkata flight was canceled today. All the remaining flights of Air India are as per their schedule.

IndiGo has canceled all its flights to Guwahati, Dibrugarh, and Jorhat today and tomorrow (Friday). So far 6 flights of Guwahati Airport have been canceled. After the cancellation of the flight going to Guwahati and Dibrugarh, the passengers’ money will be returned.

Curfew was imposed in Guwahati on Wednesday evening after an unprecedented demonstration against the Citizenship Amendment Bill. A senior official said that curfew was imposed in Guwahati by Kamrup district administration. The protest against the cab was followed by violent.

According to the official, protesters set fire to some vehicles during the protest in the city. The curfew was implemented on Wednesday evening and it will continue till the situation improves. The district administration has asked the army to be ready. In Assam, there was a lot of sabotage in the demonstration led by student organizations.
