Kerala: ACP to face sexual harassment case on actor’s wife complaint
Thiruvananthapuram, Nov.29 (HS): On the complaint of the wife of an actor, the court has ordered to register an FIR against the police officer of ACP rank and start investigation. The complainant has accused ACP S Suresh of Mattancherry for sexual harassment.
The court has ordered the police to register a case under sections 354 (a), 354, 294 (b) and 448 of the IPC. According to the complainant, the alleged incident took place on 9 July 2016. At that time, the accused was posted as a Circle Inspector at Pattambi Police Station.
The woman said that the police officer reached her house at nine o’clock in the night. He asked for water in the hall there. When the woman went to fetch water in the kitchen, it is alleged that the police officer also reached there and misbehaved with her.
The woman and her family avoided formally filing a complaint first, fearing for their safety. In 2018, the victim and her husband filed a complaint to the Superintendent of Police of Palakkad District and the Chief of Police of the state.
The police chief sent the complaint to the SP of Palakkad. When the police did not take any action in this matter, the victim woman filed a petition with the Pattambi Judicial First Class Magistrate.
