We have decided to remove Pragya from the consultative committee of defense: Nadda
New Delhi , Nov 28 (HS): Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi has removed Sadhvi Pragya from the Parliamentary Committee of the Ministry of Defense for calling Mahatma Gandhi’s killer Nathuram Godse a patriot. Along with this, Sadhvi Pragya has been told not to come in the meetings of BJP Parliamentary Party during the session.
BJP Working President J P Nadda said We have decided that Pragya Singh Thakur will be removed from the consultative committee of defense and in this session she will not be allowed to participate in the parliamentary party meetings.
There are reports quoting sources that the party’s disciplinary committee will take major action against Sadhvi Pragya. She can also be expelled from the party. BJP acting president JP Nadda said that her statement in Parliament yesterday was condemnable. The BJP never supports such a statement or ideology.
In the Lok Sabha, while discussing the SPG Amendment Bill, DMK MP A.K. Raja was referring to a statement of Godse as to why he killed Mahatma Gandhi, then Sadhvi Pragya interrupted him. Sadhvi said, ‘You cannot give an example of a patriot.’ However, Pragya Singh Thakur’s statement was removed from the Lok Sabha records.
On the statement of Sadhvi Pragya, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra tweeted and targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She said, ‘Today, standing in the Parliament of the country, a BJP MP called Godse a patriot. Now the Prime Minister (who celebrated the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi) is requested to tell from the heart that about Godse what are their views in Mahatma Gandhi is immortal.
This is not the first time that Pragya Singh Thakur has described Nathuram Godse as a patriot. Even during the Lok Sabha elections, she called Nathuram Godse a patriot. PM Modi also expressed displeasure over Pragya Singh Thakur’s statement. The PM had said that even though Sadhvi Pragya has apologized in this matter, I will never be able to forgive her from my heart.
