Lucknow,November 17(HS)The working committee of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board which met here on Sunday decided to go for review of the Supreme Court judgement giving disputed land in Ayodya to Hindus for construction of Ram temple.
The Board also decided  not  to accept five acres of land to be provided to the community for building mosque which was demolished in 1992 at another site.
“Transfer of mosque land to any one is unislamic. Therefore, we cannot offer this land to Hindus and agree to construct the mosque at another site”,Zafaryab Jilani, who appeared in the SC on behalf of the community told newsmen after the meeting. Some other Muslim leaders were also present at the briefing.
The SC had pronounced its judgement on November 9 after 40-day daily hearing  of the case. The land dispute case was  heard earlier in lower courts. The Allahabad High Court had ordered three-day division of the land, one third each to the Sunni Waqf Board, the Nirmohi Akhara and Ram Lalla ( the deity),the main litigants. It was not accepted by either of the three. Some other parties had also approached the apex court.
Some of the members of the Board had expressed themselves in favour of review of the SC judgement soon after it was delivered.Jilani was one of them.He had said he was dissatisfied with the order. He repeated himself on Sunday.AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has made a controversial statement saying that the judgement had an majoritatian edge.
Some other leaders have also called the judgement “erroneous”.In reply to a question,Jilani told media persons that the Board represented the entire Muslim community and that its decision was binding on others.
However, there are many in the community who are not in favour of review.Chairman of the Central Shia Waqf Board Wasim Rizvi and chief of Sunni Central  Waqf Board Zafar Farooqui, two important community leaders, have already oppoed it.Iqbal Ansari ,an old litigant, who resides  in Ayodhya, is also against review.
Only three of the original five petitioners wanted a review of the unanimous judgment of the Supreme Court. The Board meeting was held after a brainstorming session on Saturday with different Muslim  leaders. It is not yet known when the Court will be approached with the review petition. It may not be accepted.
