CBI JD rushed to New Delhi for urgent meeting on Chit Fund cases
Kolkata, 16 November (HS) : In the wake of several new developments in the investigations of a number of major Chit fund and money laundering cases in West Bengal,the Joint Director of Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) here was today summoned in New Delhi on top priority basis reportedly to discuss the issue along with the details of future course of action of the prime Central Investigating agency.
Informing this CBI sources said here this afternoon that in an urgent communique CBI Director Rishi Shukla today asked Joint Director Pankaj Stivastava to rush to the capital today itself to discuss on urgent basis several new developments concerning the agency’s three year long investigations on several major Chit fund cases involving companies like Saradha, Rose Valley, Icore, MPS, Prayag and Alchamist who had allegedly siphoned off several thousand crores of rupees of millions of innocent investors across several states.
Though the new progress and developments in the investigations of all these cases were not disclosed, the sources further informed that along with Srivastava, several other senior officers in some other states where the network of these Chit Fund companies were found to have spread out their wings, were also called in at the Lodhi Road office of CBI heafdquarters in New Delhi where a number of major decision could be taken during the next few days.
It may be recalled that a number of senior leaders, MPs and MLAs of ruling Trinamool Congress in West Bengal including the party’s Chief Whip in the Lok Sabha Sudip Bandopadhayay,former minister Madan Mitra and senior IPS Officer Syad Hossain Mirza among others were arrested while several others questioned for several hours to find out their alleged links in these Chit Fund cases.
