New Delhi , Nov 13 (HS): The Supreme Court has given its verdict on the 17 disqualified MLAs of Karnataka. The Supreme Court in its judgment has justified the disqualification of the MLAs by the speaker.

That is, these 17 MLAs of Congress and JDS have now been disqualified. But the Supreme Court has also given some relief to the MLAs, under which all will be able to contest again.

By-elections are to be held in 15 assembly seats in Karnataka on December 5, in such a situation, these MLAs who have been disqualified will be able to try their luck in these elections.

The Supreme Court has said in its decision that the assembly speaker cannot decide how long the MLA cannot contest the election. The SC commented on the assembly speaker and said that sometimes the speaker acts as an authority.
