Internet service stopped in many cities before the verdict on Ayodhya, eyes on social media
New Delhi, Nov.09 (HS): Internet services have been stopped in many cities as a precaution before the Supreme Court’s decision on the Ayodhya dispute.
Uttar Pradesh Director-General of Police O.P. Singh said that in view of the situation is communal and sensitive and to prevent the spread of rumors, internet service can be stopped in other districts as well.
He said, ‘Our social media cells are constantly monitoring those 673 people whose posts or comments can cause trouble. Our policemen have identified potential threats and hot spots at the district, police station and local level.
We have identified 31 sensitive districts like Agra Aligarh, Meerut, Moradabad, Lucknow, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur, and others to maintain law and order.
DGP OP Singh said that paramilitary force has been deployed in Ayodhya. Aerial inspection is also being done. Intelligence machinery is also at work and surprise inspection is also being done. An ADG rank officer has been deployed in Ayodhya to keep an eye on security arrangements.
Before the decision on the Ayodhya case, Uttar Pradesh DGP OP Singh said, “We have made elaborate arrangements for security.” 10,000 meetings have been held with religious leaders and citizens of the state. People have been appealed not to spread rumors on social media.
Uttar Pradesh Police ADG Ashutosh Pandey said that 60 companies of the paramilitary force, RPF and PAC and 1200 police constables, 250 sub-inspectors, 20 deputy superintendents and 2 SPs have been deployed. Double layer barricading, public address system has been installed. Also, surveillance is being done through 35 CCTV and 10 drone cameras. There is no restriction on people’s Ramlala visions. All markets are open and the situation is completely normal.
