A 12-member B’desh delegation visits AP for exchange of learning programme

Amaravathi (Andhra Pradesh), May 30 (HS): A 12-member senior officer level delegation from Bangladesh led by Dr Shamsul Alam, Member (Senior Secretary), General Economics Division, Planning Commission, Bangladesh is currently visiting the state till 1st June for exchange of learning in the methodologies and process involved in the areas of Statistics, Planning and Monitoring.

The delegation had a day long interaction with the Secretary (EO), Planning, senior officers from Planning department and consultants on various aspects of Statistical and Planning activities and monitoring and review mechanisms in place in the State of Andhra Pradesh. The progress in terms of achievements made by Andhra Pradesh under various goals of the UN-recommended Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) was discussed during the interactions.

The delegation also visited the Real Time Governance Society (RTGS) in AP Secretariat to know the various activities being monitored in real time and through the development dash boards. Various initiatives relating to governance, automation and public service delivery being monitored by RTG were explained by in detail Ahmad Babu, CEO, RTG at the RTG center.

The team expressed their satisfaction on the fruitful learning exchanges with Planning Department and other officials of the state. The Bangladesh team has presented the growth scenario of Bangladesh, performance in terms of various human development indicators and the likelihood of Bangladesh making rapid studies in near future. Dr Shamsul Alam, member and senior Secretary of Planning commission, Bangladesh outlined the prospective of Bangladesh with reference to Blue Economy.

Before returning Bangladesh on 1st June, the delegation will leave for Visakhapatnam and interact with District Collector regarding the programmes/ schemes and other developmental activities being implemented in the district and will make a visit to Araku to know about Araku Brand Coffee and other tribal products.
