Shillong, Oct.26 (HS): The attempt of cattle smuggling at Indo-Bangladesh Border along Meghalaya state has increased in the recent past. The cattle are transported to Meghalaya from adjoining state Assam.
The trucks carrying cattle for smuggling ply on the national highway in full public spectacle and knowledge.
In a bid to curb this menace, BSF laid Mobile check post in coordination with local police of Lumshnong police post in Sonapur area Last night at National Highway-06 and seized 02 Nos truck carrying 59 Nos cattle. Desperation on the part of these smugglers is apparent from the daring bids to bypass the MCP at Sonapur bridge.
Joint operation with local police will continue in future to avert the cattle smuggling, it is said in a statement.
